Jackson Fine Art presents an exciting exhibition, “Jazz Giants”, by renowned jazz photographer Herman Leonard. The exhibition opens on Friday, May 4 with a reception for the artist from 6 – 8 p.m. Herman Leonard’s photographs give us a feeling of what it was like to be in the intimate atmosphere of a nightclub listening to the legends like Billie Holiday, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington unleash their musical power. With an eagerness to capture a beautiful portrait and the willingness to gain exclusive access into the lives of musicians, Leonard’s photographs reveal the magic and mystery of jazz giants. Leonard’s visual diary is deliberately atmospheric and speaks of a time when music thrived. In conjunction with Herman Leonard’s exhibition “Jazz Giants”, Jackson Fine Art presents legendary fashion photographer Horst P. Horst, “Fashion Icons.” Horst’s iconic images bring fashion to the foreground of popular culture. Through his use of the model as a form and the minimal scene, Horst was able to maintain focus on the elegant clothing and glamorous bodies. Horst P. Horst images reflect his passion for people, his photographs are refined images of elegance. Fashion bursts at its seams due to the graceful silver images that Horst created. Jackson Fine Art is located at 3115 East Shadowlawn Ave. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10-5 pm. For more information please contact Malia Stewart at malia@jacksonfineart.com.

WANDERN* An experiential exhibition and lecture series that explores the idea of space. In German: to roam, hike, wander about, daydream. Be lost in thought or lost in space. WANDERN* was initially inspired by conceptual artist Douglas Weathersby, whose work deals with questions of perception and the way personal space is ordered. His cleaning and home repair company, Environmental Services, is both his livelihood and art making practice, cleverly crossing the threshold between cleaning as performance, business as conceptual art and installation as promotion. For WANDERN* he will transform the front gallery into Home Office, a site specific installation complete with taped infomercials, promotional materials and even the artist himself - Weathersby will be holding office hours May 8-10 to schedule projects with prospective clients/patrons for his upcoming solo show. *(Thanks for breaking the mold and offering the ATL art scene something that breaks the mold, The Hushbox)
