Sunday May 6

Fiesta Atlanta. Atlanta’s largest Hispanic outdoor family festival, Fiesta Atlanta will take place, at Centennial Olympic Park. Over 25,000 people are expected to attend the first of what will become Atlanta's annual signature Hispanic event. Fiesta Atlanta will take place on Cinco de Mayo weekend and will be a day long celebration of Latino culture, music, and food.


Monday May 7

The AirTran Airways Keith Brooking Celebrity Golf Tournament. By participating, you'll support a variety of unique programs where foster kids learn the value of education, good health and self-worth. You, meanwhile, get to play 18 unforgettable holes at the Georgia Tech Golf Club and enjoy great food from LowCountry BBQ. Saturday May 12

Wine and Dine at Villa Christina. The third Wine and Dine event will take place May 12 and once again bring together a full day of wine tasting, cuisine from top Atlanta restaurants, fashion shows and live music. All-inclusive tickets: $45 in advance, $55 at the door, $75 VIP tickets in advance, $85 at the door. 1:00pm -5:00pm @ The Greens at Villa Christina, 4000 Summit Boulevard, Atlanta 30319--Just inside the Perimeter at 285 & Ashford Dunwoody Road. Over 50 fine wines from the world's premier wine-making regions will be poured at the event.  Wine seminars will be held throughout the day. The festival will include samples from a variety of Atlanta’s top fine dining restaurants as well as chef cooking demonstrations. Fashion shows every hour. Live latin jazz, salsa, reggae, jump blues, and swing.

Sweet Auburn Springfest at Auburn Avenue. An urban springtime festival filled with music, dancing, kids' games, food, films, and art. (Lets pray that this festival is more organized than in years past. Many of you thought the same thing, we just said it out loud.


Saturday May 19

Dirty South Hip-Hop event. A Cappella Books is proud to host author and former Creative Loafing music editor Roni Sarig at Criminal Records to discuss his groundbreaking work.
Sarig will read from his new non-fiction work, Third Coast: Outkast, Timbaland, and the Rise of Dirty South Hip-hop, and sign copies of the book at Criminal Records in Little Five Points on Saturday May 19 at 4:00 PM.  Admission is free to this event.

Trader Vic’s celebrates 31 years of exotic dining, Polynesian cuisine and island-inspired cocktails with its first festival-style anniversary party, Lavapalooza 2007. Guests will enjoy a full day and night of luau-style food options, Trader Vic’s signature Mai Tais, a variety of native-island activities and live entertainment by the Tongo Hiti band, with Monkey Zuma and Dames A’Flame.

The Atlanta Downtown Festival and Tour will feature 13 lofts, condos and other unique living spaces on a tour ranging from the South Central Business District and Fairlie Poplar through the Centennial Park area to Ralph McGill. The festival will include live entertainment on two stages beginning at noon each day, an artist market with more than 100 booths, a beer garden and other activities designed to showcase the vibrancy of Downtown living.

4TH Annual Kirkwood Spring Fling. The festival will take place in the newly renovated Bessie Branham Park, along with many beautiful local homes.  Exciting live performances and mouth-watering food will make this year’s event the best yet! Art Monday's at Apache Cafe. Experimental jazz jams, spoken word performances, open mics and local hip-hop and funk acts blow up Apache's stage at night. The Star Bar. Every Tuesday night, enjoy down right shake ur ass, groove thang whatever you desire to call your money maker. This night has been going for 9 years strong and you'd be hard pressed to find a Tuesday night that offers the fun that this one does. Gets krunk around Midnight when DJ Rome Cologne and his Booty Patrol posse throw down. Can you say, "We Want The Funk!"7

MJQ. Bling ain't our thing. Cash that check but don't get wrecked. MJQ Concourse presents Friday nites at it's finest in Atlanta with La Bodega Sessions. What the hell is a damn Bodega Sessions? Well if you don't know and just so you do, typically up north the bodega is that spot on the corner where you can get just about anything. Because of the diversity of the neighborhoods, the bodega is also that spot where you see, hear, and mesh with all manners of people and culture. In the dirty south we call this a co'nah sto. In 2005, Fridays at MJQ are going to bring you a little bit of this, a little less of that, and most likely a shit load of everything else. Once again, if you're looking for that radio playlist...nope. Quality business here. Hip Hop, reggae, and other genre bending dancefloor movements. Rotating residents include DJ Kemit, Justin Chapman, and the new 2nd Friday honcho DJ Rasta Root.

Pink Pony, aka "The Pony" baby. It's not Magic City or the now defunct Gentleman's Club, but with all the other strip clubs in town closed on Sunday nights and hardly any place to get a drink, The Pony becomes more than just a strip club.
